Crowdrise & The Circle of Sisterhood

Crowdrise provides a forum for you to raise money for your favorite charity (presumably the Circle of Sisterhood) and to have fun while doing it. You can start any project you’d like to fundraise for and you can share it with all your sorority sisters, friends, family, co-workers and/or classmates.

Circle of Sisterhood supporters have proven success with crowdrise. Sue Kraft Fussell launched her own fundraising page through crowdrise in May. An avid supporter of all things charitable, she’d done her fair share of sponsoring friends in marathons and decided to do her own online ‘mock marathon’. It required no running, only reaching out to friends, family and colleagues asking them to join her in helping empower women & girls around the globe. Crowdrise, provided her a web page to distribute and a way to track people who donate and her ‘running total’ throughout her own campaign. Her goal was to raise $4,000 and she surpassed it.

The founder of the Circle of Sisterhood, Ginny Carroll, took a similar approach for her 50th birthday. She created a crowdrise page (literally it takes minutes to do) and asked friends to donate $50 in honor of her birthday. A small request to make that can make a huge difference in the lives of young girls. The response was greater than Ginny could have imagined and she credits the ease of donating through crowdrise (and an excellent choice in charity) for her success.

In addition to the ideas above, what could you do through Crowdrise for the Circle of Sisterhood?

  • Consider setting up a page and asking folks to make their end-of-the-year tax donations through you & the Foundation.
  • Challenge friends to give up their latte for a month or simply skip one dinner out and make a donation instead.
  • Waive the ‘white elephant’ gift exchange with your family this Christmas. Think of the impact you could have if everyone donated the $25 instead to help change the world.
  • Give of yourself…offer up your services and ask for a donation in return. You could babysit, offer to run errands, paint a room, mow a lawn, cook a meal. Whatever your talent-people may pay you for it and you then pay it forward.

Have another idea–leave it below in the comment section or find us on facebook. We’d love to hear it!
