Grantee Spotlight: Bead for Life

BeadforLife

Circle of Sisterhood Foundation is proud to announce its support of Bead for Life. as one of it’s 2013 grant recipients. Bead for Life is a nonprofit organization that works to eradicate extreme poverty by creating bridges of understanding between impoverished Africans and concerned world citizens. Bead for Life helps facilitate the sale of beads made by women in Northern Ugandan who have been displaced by the war lead by Joseph Kony. We strongly identified with their mission- and are so excited to support the great work they are doing.

The $4,500 grant that Bead for Life is receiving has enabled six young girls in Uganda into secondary education programs for 2013. The $4,500 provides all six young women with the funds to cover their tuition, dormitory, uniform, and scholastic materials, as well as staff monitoring and empowerment activities. This grant will allow these displaced girls to build a better future for themselves. As always, we thank you for your support of Circle of Sisterhood and helping the Bead for Life staff in removing educational barriers for these six women.

LookBook3_0Interested in supporting Bead for Life on the individual or campus level? There are a number of opportunities to get involved. Whether you’d like to host a bead party program, get involved with the youth education program, or find opportunities through their larger volunteer program, this is a great opportunity to fulfill our mission by supporting the education of women who would not otherwise have the opportunity. Find out more about these opportunities by clicking here.
